It marks the largest-ever Indian legislative presence at an international summit and is a major milestone in the evolution of global democratic collaboration.
NLC Bharat 2025: Empowering Legislative Community
The initiative is spearheaded by National Legislators’ Conference Bharat (NLC Bharat) — a pioneering platform dedicated to empowering India’s legislative community through cross-border engagement, capacity building, and policy innovation.
The summit will see Indian lawmakers interact with over 2,000 U.S. state legislators and 7,000+ lawmakers from around the world, addressing key global governance issues such as artificial intelligence in policymaking, cybersecurity, digital democracy, and voter confidence.
“This is not just a delegation – it is a powerful representation of Bharat’s democratic strength,” said Dr. Rahul Karad, Founder of NLC Bharat. “Our lawmakers carry with them not only individual aspirations but the hopes of a billion citizens and the timeless wisdom of our civilization. Through such collaborations, we aim to build bridges across democracies and foster a globally connected legislative ecosystem.”
The summit itinerary includes academic orientation on the U.S. legislative system, visits to state assemblies and institutions, and interactions with Indian-origin leaders in politics, business, and academia. These engagements aim to facilitate strategic exchange and deepen ties between the world’s largest and oldest democracies.

The journey builds on the success of NLC Bharat 2023 held in Mumbai and follows a smaller delegation of 50 Indian legislators who participated in the NCSL summit in Louisville in 2024. NLC Bharat 2025 plans to extend this international engagement with future legislative visits to Europe, Asia, and the Americas, reinforcing India’s role in shaping global democratic discourse.
With NLC Bharat 2025, India’s legislative leadership is not only learning from global best practices but also contributing to them – building a stronger, wiser, and more future-ready democratic framework for the country.
